SB 2344  RELATING TO MAUI REGIONAL HEALTH SYSTEMS 
        CORPORATION                            HHS/LRE, WAM
        Creates Maui regional health systems corporation as a
        public corporation and transfers Kula Hospital, Lanai
        Community Hospital, and Maui Memorial hospital and
        their assets and liabilities from the Hawaii Health
        Systems Corporation and returns them after 5 years.
        Effective 7/1/2000.

SB 2872  MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE HAWAII HEALTH SYSTEMS
        CORPORATION                                HHS, WAM
        Provides an emergency appropriation to Hawaii Health
        Systems Corporation to pay for operating costs in
        excess of operating revenues and to reimburse the
        State for payments of collective bargaining increases.

SB 2873  RELATING TO HAWAII HEALTH SYSTEMS 
        CORPORATION                                HHS, WAM
        Authorizes Hawaii Health Systems Corporation to issue
        hospital revenue bonds; authorizes the Department of
        Budget and Finance to guaranty the bonds and
        appropriate the funds for planning, development,
        construction, and equipment for the Maui Memorial
        Medical Center.

 


SB 3120  RELATING TO MAUI MEMORIAL HOSPITAL         HHS, WAM
        Appropriates funds for improvements to the Maui
        Memorial Medical Center to upgrade its facilities to
        comply with the National Fire Protection Association
        and the Americans with Disabilities Act regulations.

SB 2874  RELATING TO HAWAII HEALTH SYSTEMS
        CORPORATION                                HHS, WAM
        Allows more flexibility for the corporation to design
        and provide patient care services which meet the
        health care needs of the community. 

SB 2875  RELATING TO CRITICAL ACCESS HOSPITALS      HHS, WAM
        Enhances the federal Medicare Rural Hospital
        Flexibility Program by providing for reimbursement to
        critical access hospitals on a cost basis under the
        Medicaid program using matching federal funds.

SB 2492  RELATING TO HEALTH                         HHS, WAM
        Requires the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation to
        develop a strategic plan relating to current and
        future long term care needs in the State and the
        availability of public and private resources to meet
        those needs. Requires HHSC to maintain its long term
        care beds pending the development of the plan.

SB 2865  RELATING TO PROPHYLACTICS                  HHS, WAM
        Eliminates the statutory requirement for rules
        regulating the sale of prophylactics.

SB 2866  RELATING TO PRESCRIPTION DRUGS             HHS, CPN
        Liberalizes regulatory controls and restrictions on
        the distribution of medical oxygen and the dispensing
        of prescription drugs (non-controlled substance
        drugs).

SB 2876  RELATING TO CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECKS FOR THE
        DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH                       HHS, JDC
        Authorizes DOH to obtain criminal history record
        information for prospective employees, service
        providers, and sub-contractors of DOH, who work in
        close proximity to clients in the provision of
        medical, mental health, or substance abuse services.

SB 2877  RELATING TO CHILD AND ADOLESCENT MENTAL 
        HEALTH                                     HHS, WAM
        Authorizes an emergency appropriation of general and
        special funds to DOH for services provided by the
        Child and Adolescent Mental Health Division.

SB 2878  MAKING AN EMERGENCY APPROPRIATION FOR THE ADULT MENTAL
        HEALTH DIVISION                            HHS, WAM
        Authorizes an emergency appropriation to DOH for
        services provided by the adult mental health division.






 


SB 2864  RELATING TO THE WELFARE OF INCOMPETENT 
        PERSONS                                    HHS, JDC
        Creates a penalty for endangering the welfare of an
        incompetent person.

SB 2883  MAKING AN EMERGENCY APPROPRIATION FOR THE STATE'S
        MEDICAID HOME AND COMMUNITY BASED SERVICES FOR THE
        DEVELOPMENTALLY DISABLED OR MENTALLY RETARDED 
        PROGRAM                                    HHS, WAM
        Obtains additional funds for fiscal year 1999-2000 for
        the State's Medicaid Home and Community Based Services
        for the Developmentally Disabled/Mentally Retarded
        program to allow continued services for existing
        clients and the addition of new clients to address
        issues raised in Makin v. State of Hawaii, Civ. No.
        98-00997 DAE.

SB 2885  RELATING TO SANITATION                          HHS
        Repeals obsolete and unnecessary statutes relating to
        sanitation.

SB 2892  RELATING TO THE CORRECTION OF THE APPLICABLE FISCAL
        YEAR FOR THE APPROPRIATION TO BE EXPENDED BY THE
        DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH IN SECTION 6 OF ACT 304, SESSION
        LAWS OF HAWAII 1999                        HHS, WAM
        Corrects fiscal year reference in section 6 of Act
        304, Session Laws of Hawaii 1999 to permit the
        appropriation of moneys from the Hawaii Tobacco
        Settlement Special Fund to the DOH for fiscal year
        1999-2000.
